A Quiet State
I am interested in what carries us from within.
A Quiet State explores moments in which the external becomes quieter and something more essential comes into view.
The photographs are concerned with presence, perception and the subtle connections between ourselves, one another, memory and the world around us.
Faces turn away, eyes close or vision is obscured. The body becomes less a subject than a space for stillness, vulnerability and inner experience.
My photographs do not seek to explain these states. They create a space in which they can reveal themselves.
Works such as Where Seeing Begins ask what becomes perceptible when sight is withheld. Perhaps some of our deepest forms of connection begin precisely there: in touch, memory, intuition and resonance.
A Quiet State explores these moments of reduction – when the external becomes quieter and presence itself comes into focus.
